John Kathy on empowering businesses with intelligence layer

A conversation with John Kathy, Chief Technology Officer and Chief Operating Officer at Prathm LLP.

John Kathy is a co-founder of Prathm, where he is focused on helping businesses make sense of the information that already exists inside their operations.

From purchase orders and invoices to supplier updates, production information and delivery schedules, John believes the challenge isn't a lack of data. It's that businesses often have to work too hard to connect it.

What does operational intelligence mean to you?

For me, it comes down to a simple question: Can you see what's happening early enough to do something about it?

Most businesses already have enormous amounts of information. The problem is that it's spread across emails, spreadsheets, documents, ERP systems and conversations.

Intelligence is about connecting those pieces and turning them into something useful. Not another dashboard. Not more information. A clearer understanding of what needs attention.

What made you want to build Prathm?

We kept seeing the same problem.

A business might have everything it needs to understand an order, but that information lives in ten different places. Someone has to manually compare documents, chase a supplier, check an ERP and piece together what happened.

And often, by the time the picture is clear, the business is already dealing with the consequences.

We wanted to change that. The information should come to the business, not the other way around.

“The goal isn't to replace how businesses work. It's to help them see what's happening early enough to work better.”

What do you want Prathm to ultimately enable?

I want a business leader to open Prathm and immediately understand their operation.

What's healthy? What's changing? What's at risk? Where is money being lost? What needs attention?

No digging through inboxes. No hunting through spreadsheets. No waiting for the weekly update.

Just a clear picture of the business, while there's still time to do something about it.
